Common Types of Inheritance & Family Disputes
Disputes involving family or inheritance can arise for many reasons – from unclear wills to disagreements over estates or care arrangements. Whatever the situation, understanding your rights and options early can help prevent matters from escalating.
Below are some of the most common issues we assist with:
- Will disputes and inheritance claims – disagreements over the validity or fairness of a will
- Estate administration conflicts – concerns about executors, trustees or distribution of assets
- Family disagreements – including financial, property or care‑related disputes
- Contested probate – challenges to how an estate is managed or divided
- Claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 – where someone feels unfairly left out of a will
- Separation and relationship breakdowns – guidance on next steps and fair arrangements
If you’re unsure whether your situation qualifies, our consultants will listen carefully and explain the best way forward.

Why is the company called ‘ChallengeMy’?
The name ChallengeMy reflects what we help people do – take action when something doesn’t feel right. It’s a call to stand up, ask questions and move forward with confidence.
Each of our specialist divisions carries that same spirit, for example ChallengeMy Accident or ChallengeMy Employment – helping people take the right first step in their specific legal challenge.
Is ChallengeMy Group able to offer legal advice?
No. ChallengeMy is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice or legal services. We are not regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) or any other legal regulatory body.
Our role is to help individuals and businesses understand their situation, explore their options and, where needed, connect with qualified legal professionals.
Any information we provide is for general guidance only and should not be taken as legal advice. Any legal advice will be provided by the solicitor you choose to engage.
Using our service does not create a solicitor‑customer relationship.
How does ChallengeMy Group provide support?
Please see our how it works page for further details.
Is ChallengeMy Group’s service confidential?
Yes. ChallengeMy treats all information shared in the strictest confidence.
Your privacy is protected at every stage, and the terms of confidentiality are clearly set out in the agreement you enter into with us.
Will I have to pay anything to ChallengeMy?
In most cases, no. The cost of ChallengeMy’s service is covered by our partner law firms, so there’s usually nothing for you to pay.
If you ever require additional time or support from your consultant, we’ll explain any charges, which are set out in our terms and conditions, clearly in advance. Furthermore, charges will be payable if, having been introduced to a consultant, you elect not to engage a ChallengeMy registered solicitor. Again, these are set out in our terms and conditions.
You’ll always have full control over whether to proceed and you’ll never be pressured to do so.
Will my legal costs be higher as a result of ChallengeMy Group’s involvement?
No. Using ChallengeMy should not make your legal costs higher.
There are three main reasons for this:
- Time saved – Our involvement saves your solicitor time that would normally be billed directly to you.
- Efficiency for firms – The ChallengeMy model helps solicitors make better use of their time and resources by connecting them with well‑prepared, supported customers when they have capacity.
- Cost oversight – As part of our service, we monitor the time and costs being charged by your solicitor. Because we understand what’s typical across the market, we can question anything that appears excessive and help ensure your legal costs remain fair and proportionate.
I do not live in England or Wales. Am I able to use ChallengeMy?
Yes – as long as you live in the United Kingdom, you can use ChallengeMy’s services.
At present, our support is focused on the UK, but we plan to expand internationally in the future.
What situations can ChallengeMy Group provide support in?
ChallengeMy Group’s offering is extensive by design. Regardless of the nature of the legal issue / contentious matter being faced, ChallengeMy Group endeavours to support you, the individual. ChallengeMy Group can assist in matters relating to accidents, crime, councils, employment, housing, inheritance, money, provision of goods and services, relationships, scams and travel. And everything in between.
